Hi All,
Grading
I think most of you know by now that a new grading system is now in existience
and in fact two players have already been graded and four others are part
the way through. We have tried to speak to as many players and parents as
possible to explain the new system, but if you require any further
clarification please do not hesitate to ask. I hope that every player has now
received a Syllabus Sheet (Mon for Juniors & Kyu for Seniors), together
with a Record of Achievment log. Please keep the Record of Achievemnt log safe
as this is the ONLY record of your progress through each section within a new
grade - no copy is held on file until the complete new grade has been registered
at BJA Head Office. I have attached all the required documents if you have not
yet received them.
As I have said before, gradings will require considerable input from the player
as they/you will have to learn all the various techniques within a grade together
with all the appropriate Japanese Translation (which is provided at the back of
the syllabus sheet). All the coaching staff are here to help you get
through the grades, but please do no pester them every week to get you signed
off. Grades at the club will only be signed off by the Head Coach when (and
only when) the player has reached the required standard.
Training
I have decided to have a bit of a "re-focus" of Junior training on a
Monday at Bishops Stortford. Mondays have always tended to be geared towards
contest training and this is very much the direction for the future. Those
children that are keen to compete and have demonstrated that they are capable
of competition judo are invited to attend Monday Junior Judo Classes from 7:00
- 8:15pm. Classes are open to all junior players regardless of what club
they attend.
I am fortunate to now have a superb team of highly motivated and extremely
capable coaches in place on a Monday who have committed to helping me deliver
top quality instruction. Jon Tancock is a former Great Britain player and
European Medallist, Sophie Daniels is a GB player and current National
Champion and I have considerable experience of coaching judo players for
National and International competition. Together we have put in
place a programme of training that will not just cover the next few weeks,
but aims to produce players capable of winning National and International
medals for the years ahead.
I have spoken to a couple of parents about their children attending Monday Judo,
but I am keen to get a few more players involved. Having said that, the class
will be limited to a maximum of 20 players in order that we can give the
upmost attention to each and every player. If you think your child would like
to be involved in an elite training programme then please do come a speak
to me to discuss further.
Kind Regards,
Allen.
