We had three players, Zoe Camp, Rachael Daniels & Sophie Daniels, travel to the K2 Arena in Crawley for the Kent International.
Zoe: 1 Win 2 Losses
Zoe is still finding her feet at this level of competition, but did well to pick up a win. I expect her to fair much better next weekend in the Junior Section of this event.
Rachael: 2 Wins 1 Loss - Bronze (Youth Section) 1 Win 3 Losses - Bronze (Senior Section)
Two fine wins from Rachael in the Youth and should have been in the Final if it wasn't for a small mistake. As expected Rachael found it tough going in the Senior Section but did well to gain a win. This was Rachael's last competition before taking 6 months out of judo for major knee surgery. Two Bronze Medals in one day is a pretty good way to bow out - we all wish you well Rach' and look forward to having you back on the mat asap and all mended!!
Sophie: 5 Wins 0 Loss - Gold
This was Sophie's last major event of the judo season and was a fitting way to end another impressive year. Her first 3 contests were all won inside a minute with her now favoured Tomoe-Nage (Stomach Throw). The Semi-Final was against one of her arch rivals who she dispactched in extra time with a neat Ko-Soto-Gake (Outer Hook Throw). The Final also went to extra time where Sophie once again pulled off another excellent Tomoe-Nage to take the win and Gold Medal.
