Ipswich Senior Open - 16/03/08 |

Hi All,
This weekend it was our Cadet and Senior players who were in competition,
at the Ipswich Open Championships. We had 6
players in attendance, Zoë Camp, Rachael Daniels, Kayleigh Goddard, Jonny
Cooke, Steve Boughey & Calvin Baugh.
Zoë: 2
Wins 0 Loss - GOLD.
Unfortunately there was only one other player in Zoë’s weight so the organisers
decided to do a best of 3 match. Zoë was never really troubled and took a
comfortable 2 - 0 victory.
Rachael: 2
Wins 0 Loss - GOLD.
Rachael is now back to nearly her very best form following her knee injury,
and had two very impressive wins.
Kayleigh: 2
Wins 1 Loss - GOLD. There
was only one other girl in Kayleigh's group so it was another best of
3 match in which Kayleigh won 2 - 1. Both girls were very evenly matched
and Kayleigh did well to come through 3 very tough contests to take the Gold.
Jonny: 3
Wins 0 Loss - GOLD.
Jonny showed some great skills in both his standing and ground fighting to take
victory in a decent field of lads.
Steve: 1
Win 1 Loss - GOLD.
Steve fought in a combined weight group and took victory against the other
player in his group with some neat ground fighting.
Calvin: 2
Wins 0 Loss - GOLD.
Calvin looked very good in his two contests and displayed some great throwing
skills to win his two contests in fine style.
Unfortunately there wasn't a huge entry for this competition, which is quite
unusual. Having said that, to send 6 players and come away with 6 Gold Medals
is pretty impressive. Well done to all our players, a great day’s judo.
