Thetford Grading - 24/02/08
We
had 14 players go the Thetford Grading on Sunday.
Jos Goddard: 1
Win 1 Loss - 8th Mon (Orange 2). A rather sluggish start from Jos, but bounced back
with a very nice win to show the judges what he can really do!!
Robert
Czescleki: 3 Wins 0
Losses - 9th Mon (Orange 3). Good to see Robert competing and a very strong
performance from him, certainly worthy of his new grade
Aston Davies: 2
Wins 1 Loss - 9th Mon (Orange 3). A big improvement in performance from Aston and a well
deserved new grade.
Sam Barker: 2
Wins 1 Loss - 9th Mon (Orange 3). Two impressive wins from Sam saw him jump up two
grades.
Jake Barker: 1
Win 2 Losses - 9th Mon (Orange 3). After a slow start, Jake came back very strongly to
win with an excellent Tomoe-Nage (Stomach Throw).
Joe Moore: 1
Win 2 Losses - 9th Mon (Orange 3). Joe showed some neat judo, even in his defeats and was
worthy of his new grade
Theo Lawson: 3
Wins 0 Losses - 11th Mon (Green 2). Excellent display from Theo to jump 3 grades. A
particularly impressive Ura-Nage (Rear Throw) brought many admiring comments!
Zoe Camp: 1
Win 1 Draw 0 Losses - 13th Mon (Blue 1). Showed enough quality to jump one grade and a change of
belt colour. Difficult for the girls when there is only limited opposition.
Rachael Daniels: 1
Win 1 Draw 0 Losses - 14th Mon (Blue 2). Like Zoe, only had limited opposition to compete
against, but showed some good quality judo to move up one grade.
Jonny Pettinger: 3
Wins 0 Losses - 17th Mon (Brown 2). Very impressive judo from Jonny "Pin-Up"
against much heavier opposition. Not only did Jonny win with ease, he used
a very wide range of quality techniques to impress the judges.
Kayleigh Goddard: 4 Wins 0 Losses - 3rd Kyu (Top Blue). Kayleigh had an awesome day, going up 5 grades from
her junior orange to a top senior blue grade. Kayleigh had 4 straight maximum
score wins, one against a much more experienced brown belt.
Steve Boughey: 2
Wins 0 Losses - 7th Kyu (Top Orange). Steve showed the kind of judo he has been doing week
in week out at the club and was well deserving of his new grade.
Sean Trimble: 1
Win 2 Losses - 8th Kyu (Lower
Orange). Sean got caught out in
his first contest but recovered very well to get an impressive win and
gain his orange belt.
Richard Black: 1
Win 0 Losses - friendly(ish) contest only!! There were no BJA black belts for
Richard to fight, but he did have a contest against a black belt from another
association. This was Richard's first competitive fight for over 10 years
and some of the "old quality" was still very evident!!
A very impressive day’s judo from all our players.
Every player that entered won at least one contest and went up at least one
grade. I had several officials and coaches come up to me and say how good
they thought our players judo was - made me very proud of all of you!!
Regards,
Allen.
